Research Progress of Air Lubrication Drag Reduction Technology for Ships

Air lubrication is a promising drag reduction technology for ships because it considered to reduce the skin-friction resistance of by changing energy turbulent boundary layers. can be classified into: microbubble (injection microbubbles along hull), air film (using larger cover ship bottom), and cavity (recesses underneath hull are filled with air). In this paper, research progress reviewed from experimental numerical aspects. For these three methods, based on aspect research, main focus analysis evaluation influencing factors such as gas injection form rate; in terms theoretical accuracy simulation calculation depends selection model mechanism. The paper introduces, detail, typical phenomena results study types revealing essence achieve physical properties layer.
